Born 1985 in Izmir, Turkey, a graduate from Izmir Dokuz Eylül University of Art and Design, majoring in traditional Turkish arts and crafts. Kaan is a well-established fine arts artist, living and working between Istanbul and Bodrum. His unique interpretation of 14th and 15th century ceramics is a blend of ancient handcraft techniques and contemporary art, poised with a sense of humor and subtlety. His other achievements include writing a short screen play named ‘Free Borders’ winning the best Screen Play Diamond Award in LA and New York and he has collaborated with the costume design team of the blockbuster Turkish TV series ‘The Magnificent Century’, a historical fiction based on the life and court of the Ottoman Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent. The period drama became very popular worldwide, went global instantly and won many awards for its costume design.
He was selected Young Designer of the Year 2012 by W Hotels Worldwide. Kaan opened his own studio and gallery ‘Atelier Kabal’ in Bodrum in 2016 and his art was showcased in many individual and group exhibitions, galleries and art & design shows over the years.
